Shineh has lived a hard life. Plagued by dreams of his past, he can only find comfort in his good memories, and in the present -- in Earth, where he is sent, along with the Snakefeh Bob, to follow after Cedren. Upon arriving, Shineh and Bob are taken to Airian’s base, where shadows lurk, and evil Biryos reside, but in a twist of fate he meets Evie, a young human girl who is just as lost as he is, and who may play a key part in helping him understand the gift that he has been given.

Evie has suffered a harsh realization. Her mother doesn’t understand, and, in her anger, has swept them both away to Florida, to a hotel that is referred to as a haunted house. Fearful because of her loss, and her inability to reforge her relationship with her mother, Evie decides to take a walk, not knowing that it will change her life. In a moment of panic, she meets Shineh, and receives a message -- a message that appears to be written to her, penned by someone she’s never met, and written as if they have known her for years.

As Evie and Shineh’s lives clash, the past returns to haunt them, both in ways expected, and entirely unexpected, painful...and terrifyingly dangerous. And, when the truth is uncovered, both Evie and Shineh will be forced to face what lingers in the darkness of the shadows.
