Hello, dear readers, and welcome!
It's nearly Thanksgiving Day, and I'm looking forward to spending some time with friends and family. My family is a bit broken up this year, as far as distance, but we are all together in heart. I hope you have fun things planned, and will be enjoying your Thanksgiving as well. One fun thing I in particular will be doing is joining one of my favorite authors, Ridley Pearson, in sharing a #ThankYouNote. It's a lovely campaign that is running through the end of the year, and you can check out more about it on Mr. Pearson's website.
Seeing this campaign inspired me to start my own. The holiday season has always been very special to me, not only because it brings family and friends closer together, rekindles hope and joy in our hearts, and reminds us of what is really important, but also because it's a special time of reflection. As the year begins to close, I'm always reminded of not only what most people can agree is important in life, but what is important in life to me personally, what I'm passionate about.
Obviously I'm passionate about books (otherwise I don't think I would be a writer!), but more than anything, I'm passionate about stories, and how they impact other people. I write to hopefully make the world a bit better of a place -- to put a smile on someone's face, to uplift them, to make them think, and hopefully to inspire them. Stories are important to me, because I believe that a story, even a simple one, has the power to change everything for a person. And even if it changes something small, those small bits add up, so every story matters.
There have been so many stories that have changed life for me over time, so many books that have been an encouragement, an inspiration, a way to provoke thought. So, for the holiday season, I want to focus on sharing about stories. Both here on my blog and on my Twitter, coming close to Christmas, I'll be sharing why #StoriesMatter, and how books have impacted me.
I'd love it if you would join me in sharing why #StoriesMatter. Use the hashtag to help spread the word about how books can make a difference, and how stories have impacted your life!
