Hello, dear readers, and welcome!
It's been a long summer! I've taken a bit of a break from the blog, and now here I'm back, and ready to tell you all about it!
It's been hot in Florida, on some days over 100 degrees with the heat index -- add the humidity, and it's felt like a sauna. But things are slowly, slowly beginning to change: there's a nice breeze in the air on some days, and that breeze is cooler.
I am really hoping for a cool Autumn, and a cold Winter...whether that happens, we will see. I'll just be happy to have it below 80 degrees! The heat really aggravates my medical issues, and makes work impossible on many days. I've struggled with getting things done this summer, and have been in and out of the doctor, but I've managed to complete a short story, and I've done some drawing -- and plenty of crocheting! I picked up crochet back before summer started, and I just love it. When I get some new projects finished, I will try and post photos!
Also this summer, I've been working slowly but surely at getting my next book release, The Christmas Compass, ready for publication, a project I started many months ago. My editor, Steph, has been a wonderful help in all of this, and the support of my friends and family has been a lifesaver.
Putting a new story out is stressful and fun both, and I'm very excited for this one! It's an interesting turning point in the series, and brings me one step closer to having a completed, full series of my own (every author's dream? So long as they like writing series, I suppose).
The cover reveal for The Christmas Compass will be taking place on September 14th, a Monday, so please mark your calendars and stop by to see the new cover for this new story! And if you wish to go ahead and pick up your pre-order copy of the story (at a special pre-order price!), please visit the Home Page or Snowflake Triplet page for links.
I've also managed to add a new design to my RedBubble store (the little fox quote at the top), and am trying to get more designs up and ready. Please check the store out! They have a lot of fun products that you can purchase my (or other artist's) designs on!
I have been thinking about this blog, too, and what I want to do with it. I'll admit, it was really refreshing and helpful, having the summer "off" of blogging, as much as I like sharing with you all.
So, I've decided that I will follow my instincts, and not blog every Monday anymore. I've tried several days every week to blog, and have tried once every two weeks (etc.), and it honestly seems as though my brand of blogging is probably the "when the inspiration strikes" type. I don't do very well trying to grasp for something to write about, or a theme to try and keep, and so I think that blogging whenever I feel the urge or inspiration to will not only allow me to work more on my other projects, but to write better blog posts, as well.
I've really enjoyed having this time to focus on writing, and get back in touch with my other creative interests, too, and I don't want to lose that -- but I also don't want to never write another blog post, so I'm settling for the middle, in between.
I hope you are all doing well, and are looking forward to Autumn and the holidays! I know that I certainly am.
